Marina and Travis live in Florida, but they’re getting married on Vancouver Island in October. They visited for a little wedding planning last month and we squeezed in a mini session at Cattle Point. Luckily, they missed most of the smoke we’ve had recently and we ended up with a super sunny day. Marina is a veterinary surgeon, so of course, she attracted some animals – a few deer and the biggest slug I’ve ever seen. It was fun getting to know them in person. They make each other laugh a lot, which in my book is a sign of a great relationship.
Couple Portraits Archives
Carmen and Brad wanted some photos to celebrate their fifth anniversary as a couple. They chose their first apartment together as the location, which I love because it’s so personal. Plus, their place is super stylish and bright. And they’re pretty cute together too.
Kirsten and Derek visited Victoria last week since he already had to go to Vancouver for school. They’ve been dating for almost a year and I think it’s awesome when people get professional photos taken early in the relationship. It’ll be fun to look back on as the relationship evolves. Plus, you get to be congratulated by random people walking by because they think you’re engaged. We did the shoot near sunset, which is actually pretty rare for me. Check out that gorgeous light (and the cuties in front of it).
I met up with Alana and Ryan one evening last month. We planned for a sunset session, which can be tricky in Victoria as often the sky just goes dark with no colour and no visible sun, due to all the clouds. Driving there, it looked like we were losing the light and the clouds were heavy, but it turned out perfectly.
Cassie and Mike attended a fun wedding I photographed last summer. I managed to get a cute photo of them dancing, but I think I cut off the top third of Mike’s head. For their engagement photos, I tried not to do that. Luckily, he was all about leaning towards Cassie. These guys turned out to be naturals in front of the camera. We wandered around Fernwood for some photos. Check out some of my faves below.
While we were in the middle of portraits, a little dog came up for some pets and promptly flopped down in front of them.
