I met up with Alana and Ryan one evening last month. We planned for a sunset session, which can be tricky in Victoria as often the sky just goes dark with no colour and no visible sun, due to all the clouds. Driving there, it looked like we were losing the light and the clouds […]

I like to focus on capturing natural expressions and real emotion in my portrait sessions, so I lightly pose couples and direct them using prompts and conversation. Some of these sessions are partially or totally candid, which is a great way to document an important part of your relationship (ex: walking your dog, hanging out at a favourite cafe or pub, doing a hobby together).

Cassie and Mike attended a fun wedding I photographed last summer. I managed to get a cute photo of them dancing, but I think I cut off the top third of Mike’s head. For their engagement photos, I tried not to do that. Luckily, he was all about leaning towards Cassie. These guys turned out […]
I met Renee and Matt a couple of years ago at a wedding I was photographing. I loved how adorable they were together and how much fun they were having. Below is a photo I caught of them during cocktail hour. So I was pretty psyched when they asked me to photograph their wedding and […]
Continuing my day of rainy mainland shoots is Caitlin and Andrew’s engagement session at Burnaby Mountain. They visit the mountain often and swear to me that there’s a great view usually. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see much of it on this day, but I still think the photos are really cute. Smiling in the rain is […]
Heather and Travis visited the island a couple of weeks ago and we managed to fit in an engagement session at East Sooke Park. These two are clearly in better shape than I am and it was a bit hard to keep up – and she was wearing heels! Sessions in the beautiful wilderness of […]
We managed to squeeze in an engagement session a couple of weeks ago before Blaine and Zach’s wedding next week. I’m glad we did. They were a bit nervous and a bit silly and very cute together.
I met Angela and Cody back in 2014 when Angela’s sister Shannon got married. Now it’s their turn, in less than a month from now. We managed to squeeze in some engagement photos a couple of weeks ago at Beacon Hill Park and Clover Point. It was fun hanging out with these two cuties and […]
I met with Stacy and Hanh at the UVic library last Saturday to do their engagement photos. It had been a while since we met up about their August wedding, so it was fun to catch up. They’re not the kind of couple who’s all over each other in public, but they are super cute […]
Rachel and Ty visited Victoria for their third wedding anniversary. We met up at Beacon Hill Park for a little session. Rachel is also a photographer in Puyallup, Washington, which always makes me a bit nervous, but it ended up being a fun time. She totally understood why I chose the locations I did, despite […]
I met Nadine and Ron at their gorgeous home in North Saanich at the end of January. It was still pretty chilly, but they put on their happy faces anyway (which isn’t hard when you’re in love like these two). We checked out a couple of beaches nearby, walked in the woods, and took some […]
