Tired of seeing cheesy, overly-posed engagement portraits, but don't want to leave all record of your relationship up to your camera phone? You can have relaxed, natural portraits that honestly reflect your love and personalities.
Your love story is unique. It's not standing on a mountain-top, wind blowing through your professionally-styled hair, one (or both) of you in a big white dress, holding your hands just so, and kissing in the most aesthetically pleasing way.
Though sometimes that can be a part of it.
Your love story is about more than one big day. It's about feelings, shared experiences, habits, comfort, and love. There's a lot to be said about your relationship before and after the wedding.
There are three options for a couples shoot, whether you're engaged, married, or just want to celebrate your relationship:
I take a very relaxed and fun approach to posed portraits, placing you in great light, with a nice background, and giving you light instruction, conversation, or even a little game or activity. Skipping heavy posing, where every part of your body needs to be just so, allows your portraits to reflect your relationship and personality. Usually, my clients are posing themselves (or just being themselves) a short time into the session, no matter how awkward they might feel at first.
Similar to the wedding day, I'll take photos of you two going about every day life. You can choose to do an activity you enjoy together (like a hobby or sport) or just go about your normal Friday night, or Sunday morning. I especially love these sessions for engaged couples, newlyweds, and people expecting their first child. They're perfect for recording life as it changes.
Posed + Candid
If there's time, most people like to do a mix of posed and candid, and I allow their personalities to determine how much of each works best.
Sessions range from 20 minute mini sessions to day-in-the-life documentary sessions and start at $200. Sessions can be booked online here.
You can book your session online here, which includes my contract and a link to pay via PayPal. If you'd like to pay via cheque or interac e-mail money transfer, just contact me after booking to arrange it.
I will send out a reminder of the session date, time, and location in the week prior to the shoot. Then, I’ll see you there!
