I knew I had to shoot Sheila and Gord’s wedding when the first paragraph of her initial e-mail to me started out with “I recently got engaged to the most wonderful man ever” and ended with ” My wedding pictures are probably the most important thing about the wedding because I want them to capture my day.”  I love it when people express enthusiasm about their relationship or photography in their e-mails, especially when they’re excited about both. They were just as sweet as expected in person and I can’t wait for their wedding this fall.

I met them at their condo in Langford last weekend and we wandered around the amazing courtyard behind their place, then headed over to the Esquimalt Lagoon for some beach photos. Thinking about a recent wedding photographers’ conversation about going that extra mile to get great photos, I crouched down at the edge of the ocean with my shoes and socks on and proceeded to get soaked halfway up to my knee.  I still don’t think you’ll find me climbing any trees soon, but I did find out that my shoes dry fast.
