Websites

I created all content for Document Your Day-to-Day, an educational website and blog for amateur photographers, including photos, videos, all copy, and a very customized WordPress template.

I created all content on Take Better Photos of Your Cats, where I host my online photography courses and sales pages.

Lara Eichhorn Photography was designed by a local designer, Brooke at Seesaw, but I suggested a general layout of the content and provided all copy and images.

Email Marketing

I use ConvertKit for email marketing. I’ve used MailChimp in the past for my photography business and for Ian Heath and Marilyn Ball’s real estate newsletter.

Document Your Day-to-Day has a free ebook and email course (link to opt-in page) as its main opt-in. Link to PDF ebook. You can see the full 13 email sequence here. The emails go out every 3-4 days.

I’m setting up an evergreen funnel to offer a discount on my Camera Basics course to people when they opt-in for my ebook. This funnel offers them a discount the day after they complete the 12 tips mini email course sequence, which is available for seven days, and a reminder email the day before it expires. I’m using Deadline Funnel to create this evergreen funnel. It creates timers for my sales page, product page, and email sequence and redirects people to the non-sale pages once the timer has expired.

Lara Eichhorn Photography has a wedding magazine (link to opt-in page) as its opt-in and a short sequence with links and advice for planning a wedding on Vancouver Island. I also have a wait list for my local photography workshops.

Written Marketing Materials

My online wedding pricing guide, which includes some planning advice related to photography.

Here’s a PDF wedding magazine I designed and wrote, which includes a featured wedding, wedding and engagement photography tips, and some planning advice. This was designed to help people plan their weddings, set expectations for hiring a photographer, and encourage ideal clients to book me for photography.

There are many examples of my writing available on my education blog and photography blog.

Linked in the email marketing section, but applicable as a good example of my writing, Document Your Day-to-Day has a free ebook and 12 lesson email course as its main opt-in.

Social Media Marketing

Instagram

I’ve been using Instagram since 2012, but started using it more seriously for my photography business in 2015. It’s been my main social media channel for my photography and education businesses lately because of the focus on images. I use stories a lot on my photography business/personal Instagram as a way of engaging followers and I interact with other people’s stories to build relationships.

Facebook

Document Your Day-to-Day Facebook page. I use Facebook advertising to drive visitors to my email opt-in, but it also results in followers to the page. I also link to the page on my websites and through email sequences, but my main focus there is promoting the associated private group. I’ve been going live in the group weekly to answer questions about the weekly challenge I run and any other questions about photography. I’ve have started doing this on the page recently. This is still pretty new and I’m slowly growing my audience on Facebook

Lara Eichhorn Photography Facebook page. I admittedly don’t use this page very much as I find the engagement is better on Instagram, but I do collect and share reviews here. I also have used it to advertise my local photography workshops with great results (filling 7-15 spaces per workshop 3-5 times a year since 2015 and getting 237 email sign-ups to my wait list as of July 17, 2020).

Other Social Media

I used Twitter for several years in the past, but didn’t find it the best fit for my personality or business, so I’ve opted to focus on Instagram and Facebook instead. I also used Twitter when I was marketing manager for Ian Heath and Marilyn Ball, realtors. I have a LinkedIn profile that is still pretty new and I’m currently learning more about it.

I also use Pinterest for my education business and photography business. I think it’s a valuable tool, particularly for businesses with products or services that can be purchased from anywhere in the world.
