The last month or so has been pretty crazy, and of course, I’m behind on my blogging. I am, however, delivering photos to clients faster than I did last year, so I’m happy. Since the last wedding I blogged took place at the end of June, I thought I’d update you all on what I’ve been up to. I’ve blogged a few engagement sessions that happened in July, but here’s what else is on deck.
Last weekend, my assistant Gwen and I headed to Galiano Island for three days for Nicole and Andrew’s beautiful oceanfront “backyard” wedding. She had the biggest, most awesome dress I’ve ever seen in person. Combined with her unstoppable urge to mug for the camera, it was crazy fun.
We got back to Victoria on Sunday afternoon and I did a documentary couples session on Monday afternoon. I took photos while Karen and Lisa worked in their colourful garden and played with their adorable dogs. It was such a great day, even if I was still exhausted from the weekend.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I went to a workshop lead by Australian photographers Matt and Katie, where I learned a ton that I’ll be implementing shortly. We had a styled shoot with two wedding couples and an engagement couple on Tuesday afternoon, thanks to the amazing work of Tammy from Blue Lily Event Planning, Claire and Lynda from Chocolate Lily Floral Design (and Lynda’s other business Lynda Marie Couture Millinery), dresses from Trish at The White Peony, menswear from Tip Top Tailors in Mayfair, hair by Lindsay from Creo Hair Studio in Langford, makeup by Natasha Winters, furniture and linens from Smiling Rain Vintage Prop Rentals, props from Victoria Vintage China Rentals, and dishware/glassware from Pedersens. I’ll be posting a bunch of photos from this shoot soon. Below is a shot of wedding models Stephanie and Casey.
On Thursday afternoon, I got to shoot a sweet elopement that ended with Erin and Bob walking through the ocean in their wedding clothes. So happy that I got to photograph this, even though their original wedding date conflicted with the workshop.
On Thursday evening, I had a sweet engagement session with a couple who got married last night at St. Ann’s. More on both the engagement and wedding coming soon.
Still waiting to be blogged is Courtenay and Patrick’s gorgeous backyard wedding. If you’re dying to see it, you can check out the slideshow.
And on the editing block today is Jen and Sean’s oceanfront backyard wedding that was full of fun and games and even a panto created by Sean’s best man, complete with props and a sing-a-long.
I also second shot for two different photographers in the last month and I’ll probably get around to blogging those in the winter, but I have to say that it was super fun to see how other people work and get creative without having to be the one in control.
With that, I should get back to work. I have another documentary couples session this afternoon and then I’ll be madly editing all of the above before the next wedding on Friday.
